If you want to keep your dishes clean, you need to make sure that you are keeping your dishwasher clean. A tidy dishwasher will help ensure that you have clean dishes and will help keep your system operating effectively. Here are a few ways to keep your dishwasher immaculate, so it can do its job.

#1 Run Your Dishwasher On A Regular Basis

Don't let dishes sit in your dishwasher for days. Allowing dishes to sit inside of your dishwasher for extended periods of time can result in debris falling off the dishes and getting your dishwasher dirty. Run your dishwasher every few days, and when your dishwasher is done running, make sure that you empty your dishwasher in timely manner. This will help keep your dishwasher clean.

#2 Clean off the Spinning Arms

Next, take some time to clean the spinning arms on your dishwasher. The spinning arm is responsible for spraying out water onto your dishes. In order for those spinning arms to work correctly, it needs to stay clear of clogs and build-up.

Every few weeks, clean off each of the spinning arms. Wipe it down. If you see any debris in the arms, use a piece of wire or a toothpick to remove the debris from the holes in the arms. Removing the debris and keeping the spinning arms clean will help keep your dishwasher operating correctly.

#3 Wipe Down the Seal

It is important to maintain the seal on your dishwasher door. In order to maintain the seal, you need to keep it clean. Use a rag and some dish soap to clean the seal. Wipe down the seal, and be sure to clean in between each fold of the seal. If you every notice that the seal on the dishwasher is getting cracked, you are going to need to replace the door seal.

#4 Clean the Drain

Finally, you need to make sure that you keep the drain clean. The dishwasher drain can get clogged up with food debris over time. The dishwasher drain is located on the bottom of the dishwasher.

Generally, the dishwasher drain is screwed in place. You are going to want to remove the screws holding the cover in place over the dishwasher drain. Then, pick up and remove any debris in the dishwasher drain with a gloved hand. After that, use a cloth or brush to pull out and remove all debris.

Once the drain is clean, put the cover back in place and then put the screws back in. This is something that you should do at least once a month to keep the drain clean.
